The Florida Department of Law Enforcement issued a Missing Child Alert for 11-year-old Jacob Bowling on October 13. WKMG reported that the alert went out late Tuesday night. Deputies said Jacob boarded a school bus near Sanctuary Drive in Oviedo.
Florida’s post-trip bus checks
A Palm Beach County school district audit says Florida’s specifications require buses manufactured since 2005 to have a post-trip passenger-check system. The system requires drivers to walk to the rear of the bus and deactivate it, helping ensure no passengers remain aboard, according to the School District of Palm Beach County.
The FDLE flyer describes Jacob as a white male, 4 feet 6 inches tall and 100 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. It says he was wearing a cream Harry Potter T-shirt and black-and-white shoes and had a black backpack.
Deputies said Jacob might have been heading toward Osceola Road or Raccoon Trail, according to WKMG and WFTV. A separate report by the Tampa Free Press gave his last known location as the 200 block of East Osceola Road in Geneva. Oviedo and Geneva are both in Seminole County.
Anyone with information about Jacob’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office at 407-665-6650 or call 911, according to WTSP and WESH.
