A 76-year-old woman remains critically injured after a man knocked her and a 60-year-old man to the ground on Fleet Street in Fells Point on Tuesday, stealing a wallet before running off, and as of Wednesday, Baltimore police had made no arrest in the case.

Officers were called to the 1700 block of Fleet Street around 9:34 a.m. for an unarmed robbery, according to Fox Baltimore. Police told the outlet that the suspect knocked both victims to the ground and stole one of their wallets before fleeing toward South Regester Street. The Baltimore Police Department has not released the victims' names.

The extent of the victims' injuries has been described differently across accounts. The Baltimore Banner reported that the 76-year-old woman remained in critical condition as of Wednesday, while police told the paper the 60-year-old man was in stable condition. The original report from WBAL-TV characterized the woman's injuries as critical or life-threatening and the man's as stable or non-life-threatening; both were taken to a hospital for treatment.

Witness Says Suspect Watched Couple Inside Market

A woman named Vikki Powers told WBAL-TV that surveillance video appeared to show the suspect watching the couple inside a market before trailing them outside. “He saw, then he went down and sat at the table, watched them and followed them out,” Powers said, describing what she said the footage showed. That account has not been independently verified by police.

Investigators have described the suspect as having a brown complexion and wearing a white T-shirt and black sweatpants with white stripes down the sides, the same report notes. Police have not announced any arrests as of Wednesday, and the station's report indicates the search for the man was still underway.

Investigation Remains Active

Baltimore police said the investigation remains active and ongoing, according to the Baltimore Banner. The case adds to safety concerns in Fells Point's busy entertainment district, where the city set up identification checkpoints this past summer to address fights, threats of violence, outdoor drinking and marijuana use, the Banner reported. No further details on the suspect's identity or whereabouts have been released, and police have not said whether any charges have been filed.
