FLO Dentistry has opened a second Houston-area office at 2715 Bissonnet St., Suite 180, bringing the Rice Military practice's blend of general dentistry and spa-style comfort touches into one of the wealthiest zip codes in the country. The new West University Place location opened on October 5, expanding from the original clinic founded by Dr. Omar Amin, and unlike its sister office, it won't be open every weekday.
A Part-Time Schedule in a Full-Time Market
According to Community Impact Newspaper, the new office sits in West University Place, with FLO Dentistry expanding there from its original Rice Military base, per the practice's own social media post. The West University location at 2715 Bissonnet St. has regular hours on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and is available by appointment on Saturdays and Sundays, according to the practice's contact page. That is a lighter regular schedule than the original Shepherd Drive office, which runs five days a week, Monday through Friday, according to FLO Dentistry. That original clinic sits on the first floor of The Vic at Interpose, a mixed-use development along the Shepherd Drive retail corridor in Rice Military, the practice notes.
Whether staffing and hours will expand as patient volume grows at the new office remains an open question, since the practice has only just launched the staggered schedule. For now, Tuesday and Thursday appointments stay centralized at the Rice Military facility, the practice says.
Comfort Amenities Built Around Dental Anxiety
The West University office offers complimentary amenities including noise-cancelling headphones, overhead Netflix screen time, and warmed towels, per Community Impact's reporting. That approach tracks with a broader shift in the industry: a 2021 systematic review published in the Journal of Dentistry estimated that dental fear and anxiety affect 15% to 20% of adults globally, a figure that has pushed modern practices to integrate comfort features meant to ease routine visits.
Both FLO locations provide general and preventive dental treatments, comprehensive oral exams, routine cleanings, and digital X-rays, the practice's reporting shows. Restorative options include dental implants, crowns, dentures, bridges, and fillings, with personalized treatment plans built around restoring damaged, decayed, or lost teeth and their function. The practice also offers pediatric dental services, including an initial examination, treatment planning, and ongoing care for younger patients.
A Founder Shaped by His Own Health Scare
FLO Dentistry is owned and founded by Dr. Omar Amin, who holds credentials from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Dentistry and belongs to both the American Dental Association, Texas, and the Texas Dental Association, according to Community Impact. Amin immigrated from Amman, Jordan, at age six and was raised in Houston, where he overcame a high school leukemia diagnosis while playing football before pursuing pre-dental studies in biology at the University of Houston, according to FLO Dentistry's own account. He went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry, Texas's oldest dental school, founded in 1905 as the Texas Dental College and based within the Texas Medical Center, as reported by Houstonia Magazine. The practice operates as FLO Dentistry.
For patients without commercial insurance, FLO Dentistry maintains an in-house membership plan priced at $399 annually that covers routine cleanings, bi-annual exams, X-rays, and discounts on restorative treatments, the practice states. Patients may schedule appointments either online or by phone, per Community Impact's report.
Joining a Wave of New Businesses on Bissonnet
FLO Dentistry's arrival adds to a run of commercial activity along the Bissonnet Street corridor this year. Health bar concept Leemoo Health Bar recently opened its second Houston location at 2720 Bissonnet St., Hoodline previously reported.
The expansion lands in a city built for exactly this kind of growth. West University Place was ranked the nation's second-wealthiest suburb in 2026, with average household incomes exceeding $400,000 and median home values topping $1.7 million, Hoodline has reported. Incorporated in 1924, West University Place is a community in Texas.
