Tampa Bay fairgoers have a 12-hour window today to lock in the cheapest tickets the 2027 Florida State Fair will offer: $5 Any Day admission and $5 parking passes, capped at two parking passes per order, with no added fees tacked on.
The flash sale offers the lowest price point available for next year's fair, according to Plant City Observer. The limited-time discount is available ahead of the fair's February opening. The 2027 fair is set to run February 4 through 15 at the Florida State Fairgrounds in eastern Hillsborough County, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
Organizers have also unveiled the 2027 campaign theme, “Experience Real Fun. Florida's Original Fun,” a message built around nudging families away from screen time and back toward in-person traditions. That framing is a notable shift from 2026's theme, “America's Sunniest Celebration,” which leaned into the nation's semiquincentennial commemoration.
Attendance at the 2026 Fair
More than 350,000 visitors came through the gates at the 2026 fair.
Safety Numbers Trending Down
Public safety also factored into the fair's momentum heading into 2027. At the 2025 fair, law enforcement recorded 56 ejections overall and 21 arrests on Family Day, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. Deputies credited new camera trailers and drone units deployed across the fairgrounds for helping curb incidents.
The fair itself is run by the Florida State Fair Authority, a quasi-governmental entity created under Florida Statute Chapter 616 that answers directly to the state's Commissioner of Agriculture, according to Florida State Fairgrounds. Board members, including a Hillsborough County commissioner, are appointed by the agriculture commissioner. Agricultural education remains central to that oversight, and the fairgrounds' educational mission has included 4-H events such as the open house Hoodline previously covered.
A Tampa Tradition Dating to 1904
The fair's roots stretch back to 1904, when it first set up on the grounds of Henry B. Plant's Tampa Bay Hotel in downtown Tampa. The fair later relocated to its current fairgrounds, per Florida State Fairgrounds.
Today that complex hosts hundreds of events a year and draws over 1.5 million visitors. The fair begins on the first Thursday in February.
