Jacksonville is starting Thursday in a familiar Florida split-screen: foggy and sticky early, then bright sunshine and summerlike heat by afternoon. Temperatures near 70 degrees at daybreak are expected to climb to about 86, with no rain in the immediate forecast—but the calm spell is running out.
Fog Could Slow Thursday Morning Commute
The National Weather Service in Jacksonville says patchy to locally dense fog could reduce visibility to a quarter-mile on some roads through about 9 a.m. Drivers should slow down, use low beams and leave extra room, especially on inland routes; the fog should lift as the sun gets higher.
Friday Stays Hot Before A Front Arrives
Friday will feel more like summer, with a high near 88 and mostly sunny skies through much of the day. A slight chance of showers begins late Friday afternoon, with a few thunderstorms possible into the evening as a cold front approaches.
The setup marks a sharper turn from the recent sunny stretch outlined in Hoodline's earlier forecast. Friday night brings the front through, setting up a much cooler and windier Saturday.
Weekend Brings Wind, Surf And Cooler Air
Saturday's high is expected to fall to about 74 degrees, with scattered light rain and north winds of 15 to 25 mph. Gusts could reach roughly 35 mph inland and may run higher near the coast.
Sunday through Tuesday look breezy and unsettled, with northeast winds around 17 to 22 mph and periodic rain showers, mainly near the coast. The weather service is also flagging a high rip-current risk, rough surf, possible minor tidal flooding along the Atlantic coast, Intracoastal Waterway and St. Johns River basin, plus beach erosion concerns.
Clear Thursday Night, Choppier Outlook Ahead
Thursday night should stay mostly clear with a low near 70 degrees, although patchy fog may return after 3 a.m. Friday's heat will be brief, with Sunday highs in the upper 60s north and lower-to-mid 70s south, then highs mainly in the 70s Monday through midweek, while shower chances remain elevated and winds gradually ease by midweek.
