Louisville is starting Monday, October 12, in dense fog, but the murky morning will give way to bright skies and an unseasonably hot afternoon. Temperatures are expected to climb from the mid-50s early to around 85 degrees, making Columbus Day feel more like midsummer than mid-October.
Dense Fog Hangs On Through The Morning
A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 11 a.m. Monday, with visibility reduced to roughly one-quarter to one-half mile in spots. Drivers should allow extra time and leave extra following distance on the morning commute, according to the National Weather Service.
The fog should mix out quickly as sunshine takes over. Southwest flow is expected as the temperature rises through the 60s and 70s before reaching the mid-80s late Monday afternoon.
Tuesday Brings Another Near-90 Degree Day
Monday night will be clear and mild, with a low near 63 degrees. Tuesday looks even warmer, with sunny skies, southwest winds of 6 to 12 mph and a high near 89 degrees.
Rain chances return Wednesday, when showers and thunderstorms become more likely from late morning into the afternoon. The forecast calls for a 60% chance of precipitation and highs near 86 degrees, followed by another round of showers and storms Wednesday night.
Rain Arrives Before A Weekend Cool-Down
Thursday is expected to be mostly sunny, with a 30% chance of showers after 2 p.m. and a high near 82 degrees.
Friday may begin with a few showers or storms, then turn partly sunny with a high near 68 degrees. By Saturday, Louisville could see a sunny but much cooler 59 degrees, with overnight lows falling near 40; Sunday may be mostly cloudy, with a high near 67 degrees.
