A former Stevens Point Area Senior High science teacher has pleaded not guilty to child pornography charges in Portage County. Daniel J. Hagstrom, who taught at the high school from 2013 until June 2020, entered the plea as his case moves through the court system.
The plea was reported by the Point/Plover Metro Wire, which identified Hagstrom as a former SPASH teacher.
Hagstrom's time in the classroom is documented separately. According to Wausau Pilot & Review, he was employed by the Stevens Point Area Public School District as a science teacher at Stevens Point Area Senior High between 2013 and June 2020.
District Says No Indication Students Were Involved
When the charges first surfaced, the school district moved to reassure families. The same report from Wausau Pilot & Review quoted the district stating, “The District has no information indicating that the charges are related to SPAPSD students, and we have not been notified that any SPAPSD students are involved.”
That was the district's position when the charges first surfaced.
Case Details Remain Limited
The case continues to move through Portage County's court system, with Hagstrom now formally contesting the charges against him.
