A 5-year-old girl with autism who is non-verbal has gone missing in Fort Pierce, and police are asking the public to help track her down. The girl, identified by police as Black, autistic and unable to speak, was reported missing at 11:39 a.m. on Saturday. She was last seen wearing a dark, oversized shirt with two white beads in her hair.
Her father reported her missing, according to Fort Pierce police spokesperson Juliana Walker, as reported by Yahoo News. That outlet identified her as Mayra Glory Odelus, though WPBF reported her name as Mayra Glory Opelus, and the two outlets have not reconciled the spelling. Local station WPEC likewise reported her as Mayra Glory Odelus and confirmed the Fort Pierce Police Department is seeking public assistance locating her.
Conflicting Details On Where She Was Last Seen
Accounts also diverge on exactly where Mayra was last seen. The station's report put her in the 5100 block of Portofino Landings Boulevard, while WPBF reported she was last seen in the 51000 block of the Portofino Landings Boulevard complex, east of Interstate 95. Neither discrepancy has been resolved publicly, and it remains unclear which number is accurate.
What is consistent across reporting is her appearance when she vanished: a dark, oversized shirt and two white beads in her hair, per the same account relayed by police. WPEC's report, credited to reporter Grace Bellinghausen, repeated the same clothing description and reiterated that she is a 5-year-old Black female who is non-verbal.
