Four people were wounded in an apparent knife attack near the Los Angeles Convention Center on Saturday afternoon, as ComplexCon’s 10th anniversary celebration was underway, and social media footage circulating afterward appeared to show rapper Lucki caught up in the bloody brawl.
Police confirmed that four people were wounded in what they described as an apparent knife attack, according to the Los Angeles Times. Officers responded around 4:45 p.m. Saturday to reports of a fight involving multiple people near Chick Hearn Court and Georgia Street in downtown Los Angeles, per the same report. When officers arrived, people at the scene were still fighting, police said.
Four Victims, Four Different Outcomes
Two people were transported to a local hospital with injuries that appeared to result from a knife attack, per police. A third person self-transported to a local hospital for treatment of a severe laceration, the Times reported. A fourth victim showed an officer a laceration on his elbow but declined medical treatment and left the scene on his own, according to the same account; authorities said they did not know whether that person later sought medical help.
Social-media footage that spread within hours appeared to show a brawl involving Lucki outside the convention center, as noted by HollywoodLife. TikTok footage reviewed by the Times appeared to show Lucki climbing into the back seat of a black car with a noticeable wound near his jaw, though police did not confirm whether the rapper or his associates were involved in the fight.
Injury Reported, Not Officially Confirmed
Several reports claimed Lucki, a 30-year-old rapper, was stabbed, but the circumstances of the alleged confrontation and the nature of his injury have not been officially confirmed, according to The Express Tribune. Coverage of the incident has consistently described his injury as apparent or reported rather than officially confirmed as a stabbing, the outlet noted.
Law enforcement sources cited by TMZ offered a different account of the investigation's status, saying the LAPD was looking into the incident as an attempted murder and that no arrests had been made as of publication, according to TMZ.
ComplexCon Responds Amid 10th Anniversary Event
ComplexCon said it was aware of the incident and remains focused on maintaining a safe and secure environment for everyone, the event said in a statement cited by the Times. The festival's 10th anniversary event was scheduled to run at the Los Angeles Convention Center and Crypto.com Arena on October 3 and 4, per the Tribune, which also noted that rapper Playboi Carti serves as a co-artistic director of ComplexCon alongside Japanese designer Hiroshi Fujiwara.
ComplexCon, described by KTLA as an annual festival blending sneakers, streetwear, pop culture, music, design and food, draws large crowds to downtown Los Angeles each year. No further details on the investigation, the victims' conditions, or any arrests had been released as of Sunday.
