Fresno is starting Wednesday with clear skies, calm winds and temperatures in the mid-50s, but the easygoing fall weather is about to turn noticeably warmer. The city is headed for several sunny days, with afternoon temperatures nearing 90 degrees by the weekend.

Wednesday will stay sunny with a high near 80 and a light south-southwest breeze. Clear skies return Wednesday night, with temperatures dipping to about 52 before beginning a gradual warm-up overnight, according to the National Weather Service.

Heat Builds Into The Weekend

Thursday should reach about 85 degrees, followed by highs near 89 Friday and 90 Saturday. Sunday remains warm at around 88, with mostly clear skies and light winds throughout the stretch.

Overnight lows will remain relatively comfortable, ranging from the mid-50s Thursday night to around 60 Friday and Saturday nights. Rain is not expected through Sunday, making for a dry run of weather across Fresno and the surrounding San Joaquin Valley.

Cooling Possible Next Week

Temperatures ease back Monday, when Fresno is expected to top out near 81 degrees under mostly sunny skies. Tuesday is forecast to reach around 82 degrees. A 20% to 30% chance of measurable rain is possible in the San Joaquin Valley over the 24 hours ending Wednesday morning.

The broader weather pattern is also bringing very dry air to Central California. A Fire Weather Watch is focused on the Kern County mountains from Thursday through Friday, not Fresno, but the Hanford weather office is warning that low humidity and stronger winds will raise fire danger in those higher-elevation areas.
