Frida’s Hawaiʻi has opened a second restaurant in Puck’s Alley, bringing its Mexican menu to the doorstep of the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. The new spot took over the former Oli’s Kitchen space and is serving the same lineup of tacos, burritos and birria that built the brand’s following at its original ‘Ewa Beach location.
According to Aloha State Daily, the Honolulu restaurant offers both dine-in and takeout, and the menu matches what’s available at the ‘Ewa Beach original. Diners can choose from tacos, quesadillas, burritos, birria dishes, enchiladas, nachos, chimichangas and more, the outlet reports. Anyone who sits down to eat will also get complimentary chips and housemade salsa on the house.
The move places Frida’s Hawaiʻi right in the thick of student foot traffic, and it’s not exactly a surprising bet. Steady demand for restaurant footprints near the University of Hawaii at Manoa continues, according to Pacific Business News, which also notes that the new tenant arrives as several area shopping centers undergo renovations.
What’s on the Menu
Nachos fans have two options to start: the station’s report lists supreme nachos for $20.95 with carne asada and shrimp, or Frida’s nachos for $19.95 topped with carne asada and chorizo. Burrito offerings range from a California burrito at $19.95 to a shrimp burrito at $21.95, with a chile verde burrito plate running $22.95.
For those wanting the full spread, the Diego grande burrito at $23.95 is stuffed with carne asada, chicken, chorizo, rice, beans, lettuce, pico de gallo, guacamole, sour cream and cheese, then topped with both green and red enchilada sauces. Other picks include chile relleno at $16.95 and Frida’s fajitas at $29.95 — the article notes the fajitas come with carne asada, chicken, shrimp and chorizo grilled with onions and bell peppers, served alongside tortillas, lettuce, guacamole and pico de gallo.
