Denver is starting Friday with a sharp chill and a freeze warning still in effect, but the cold snap is already giving way to sunshine. After overnight temperatures dipped near freezing, the high should reach about 59 degrees with dry conditions and light winds.
Friday Brings Sunshine After A Freezing Start
Early Friday conditions around the Denver area were partly cloudy with temperatures near 36 degrees and an east wind around 12 mph. The rest of the day is expected to turn sunny, with temperatures climbing through the 40s and 50s before topping out near 59.
The National Weather Service in Denver/Boulder said the Freeze Warning remains in effect through 9 a.m. Friday for the Front Range Urban Corridor and eastern plains. Overnight lows fell into the upper 20s to low 30s in some areas, creating risks for tender plants and exposed outdoor plumbing.
Warm Weekend Sets Up Mild Week
Denver’s weather takes a dramatic turn Saturday, when sunny skies and a high near 77 are expected. Sunday should remain mostly sunny with a high around 75, followed by a mild Monday near 73.
The warm stretch continues Tuesday through Thursday, with highs forecast near 77, 79 and 78 degrees, respectively. The urban corridor should stay dry, although a few afternoon rain or snow showers could develop over higher terrain from Sunday through Wednesday.
Another Freeze Possible North And East
Friday night will be clear in Denver with a low around 35, but colder air could return across the northern and eastern plains, where temperatures may again fall into the upper 20s and low 30s. Saturday night looks more comfortable, with lows around 43.
Forecasters are also watching a storm system that could arrive late next week and bring increasing chances for showers and mountain snow. Its timing remains uncertain, so for now the Denver forecast is mostly a sunny, dry run after one very cold reminder that fall is not done being dramatic.
