Pittsburgh is starting Sunday, October 18, with fog, frost and a sharp chill before sunshine takes over. Temperatures are expected to climb from the mid-30s this morning to around 61 degrees by afternoon, giving the city a classic cold-start, blue-sky finish.
A Freeze Warning remains in effect through 9 a.m. Sunday, with subfreezing temperatures expected in some areas and frost capable of damaging sensitive plants. The National Weather Service alert advises residents to protect tender vegetation from the cold.
Sunny By Late Morning
Widespread frost should ease before 10 a.m., followed by sunny skies and almost no wind. The temperature is forecast to reach the low 50s around midday and peak near 61 degrees late Sunday afternoon, with no rain expected.
Another Frosty Start Monday
Sunday night will stay clear, with temperatures falling to about 36 degrees and patchy frost possible after 5 a.m. Monday. Monday will then rebound to a sunny high near 66, although areas of frost may linger before 9 a.m.
Dry Weather Holds Through Saturday
The rest of the week looks unusually cooperative for mid-October, with sunny or mostly clear skies and no meaningful precipitation chances. Highs should remain in the mid- to upper 60s from Tuesday through Thursday, ease to about 65 Friday and Saturday, and the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh expects the dry pattern to continue.
