Norfolk is starting Monday under cloudy skies, but the gray cover should give way to a brighter afternoon. Temperatures in the mid-60s this morning will climb to around 75 degrees, with a north wind near 9 mph and virtually no chance of rain.
Clouds are expected to thin from late morning into the afternoon as drier air moves in, according to the National Weather Service. Monday night should be mostly clear, with temperatures dropping to about 57 degrees.
Cooler Tuesday Before Temperatures Rebound
Tuesday will bring a sharper autumn feel, with sunny skies and a high near 67 degrees. The night will be clear and cooler, with a low around 52 degrees — likely the chilliest night of the week for Norfolk.
Temperatures rebound to about 73 degrees Wednesday, then reach near 80 Thursday under sunny skies. Friday and Saturday look mostly sunny to partly sunny, with highs in the low to mid-70s and dry conditions continuing.
Boaters Should Watch Monday Night Winds
North winds will strengthen late Monday night into early Tuesday, reaching 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 25 mph on parts of the Chesapeake Bay and lower James River. Small Craft Advisories are scheduled for those waters into Tuesday morning, while inland conditions remain quiet.
The next notable rain chance arrives Sunday, when there is a 30% chance of showers after 8 a.m. The rest of the day is expected to stay mostly cloudy, with a high near 73 degrees.
