Little Rock is ending Monday under mostly cloudy skies at 78 degrees, but the city’s late-October forecast is anything but chilly. Warm, mostly dry weather will hold through Thursday before rain chances arrive just in time to complicate some Halloween weekend plans.
Warm Afternoons Continue Through Thursday
Monday night will bring increasing clouds and a low around 53 degrees. Tuesday will bring partly sunny skies and a high near 78, followed by another mild night with a low around 54, according to National Weather Service.
The warmest stretch arrives Wednesday and Thursday, with sunshine and highs of about 82 and 83 degrees. Overnight lows will remain comfortable, ranging from the mid-50s to upper 50s, while the forecast stays dry through most of the workweek.
Halloween Weekend Brings A Better Chance Of Showers
Friday will be partly sunny with a high near 78, but clouds and rain chances will increase after dark. A 30% chance of showers is forecast after 1 a.m. Saturday, with a low near 60.
Saturday currently carries the week’s best rain chance, at 50% during the day and 40% Saturday night. The forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies, scattered showers and a high near 75, while Sunday should rebound to partly sunny conditions near 79 degrees with only a slight chance of rain.
What October Rainfall Averages Tell Us
According to the National Weather Service Little Rock climate table, October averages 4.47 inches of rain at Little Rock National Airport. The table lists a normal high of 69 degrees on Oct. 28 and 29, compared with forecast highs of 78 to 83 degrees this week. Its recorded highs for those dates are 86 degrees, set in 1927 and 1950, respectively; recorded lows are 31 degrees on Oct. 28 and 28 degrees on Oct. 29, both in 2017. The monthly rainfall average does not show how often measurable rain has fallen on Oct. 31.
A Past Halloween Is Not A Forecast
In its October 2024 summary, NWS Little Rock reported widespread precipitation across Arkansas on Halloween, with most rain exiting before evening trick-or-treating on Oct. 31. That past event does not predict this year's weather. The summary does not provide a station-specific Oct. 31 precipitation record or its period of coverage, so it cannot establish how often measurable rain has fallen on Halloween.
No watches, warnings or advisories are in effect for Little Rock. For now, outdoor plans look easiest from Tuesday through Friday, with Halloween events worth keeping flexible in case showers move through.
