A 33-year-old Glenwood man was arrested Monday and charged with sexual abuse by force, a Class C felony, following an investigation into a sexual assault reported in Pacific Junction. Mills County authorities identified the man as Joshua Miller and say the case may not involve just one victim.
The investigation began on October 12, when an adult female reported that she had been sexually assaulted by a male in Pacific Junction five days earlier, on October 7, according to kjan.com. A Mills County deputy responded to that report and opened an investigation into the allegation, the outlet reported.
That inquiry led investigators to identify Miller as the alleged offender. He was taken into custody on Monday, October 26, and charged with sexual abuse by force, per the same report.
Investigators Say More Victims May Exist
As the investigation unfolded, authorities said it became clear there may be additional assault victims connected to the case, though no further details on those potential victims have been released. KMAland also reported on the arrest, confirming the Mills County Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with relevant information to come forward and contact the office.
What the Charge Means
Sexual abuse by force is classified as a Class C felony, according to the Iowa Legislature's statutory text addressing sexual abuse offenses. No information on bond, a court date, or an attorney for Miller has been made public.
The case remains under investigation, and officials have not released additional specifics about the nature of the alleged assault or the identity of the woman who first came forward. Anyone with information about the case or potential additional victims is urged to reach out to the Mills County Sheriff's Office.
