Austin is waking up under a gray, muggy sky Saturday, with temperatures in the low to mid-70s and a north wind already making it feel more like a front than a typical October morning. Showers and a few thunderstorms remain possible through the afternoon, but the bigger weather story is the quick pivot to drier, sunnier conditions beginning Monday.
Showers And Gusty Winds Hang On Saturday
Saturday's high is expected near 81 degrees, with a 50% chance of rain and thunderstorms before 4 p.m., followed by a lower chance later in the day. North winds of 5 to 10 mph could gust as high as 25 mph, and some showers could briefly come down hard, according to the National Weather Service.
There are no watches, warnings or advisories posted for the Austin area. Outdoor plans can still get interrupted, especially during the late morning and early afternoon when hourly rain chances hover around 50%, so a rain jacket and a flexible schedule are the safest bet.
Sunday Starts Gray, Then The Week Clears Out
Sunday should be a touch warmer with a high near 83, though a slight chance of showers lingers before 7 a.m. Skies stay mostly cloudy through the day, with north winds around 10 mph and gusts up to 25 mph.
Then Austin gets the payoff: Monday looks mostly sunny with a high near 85, followed by sunny, rain-free weather Tuesday through Friday. Highs climb from 87 Tuesday to 90 Thursday before easing slightly to 89 Friday, while overnight lows fall into the mid-60s to upper 60s.
