
A 70-year-old Grand Chute man died Sunday morning after his minivan collided with a pickup truck at a rural Waupaca County intersection, while his 65-year-old passenger was hospitalized with minor injuries. The pickup driver, a 45-year-old Almond woman, and her five juvenile passengers walked away from the crash without reported injuries.
The crash happened around 10:02 a.m. at the intersection of State Highway 22 and Old Highway 22 in the Town of Dayton, according to fox11online.com. A preliminary report indicates a 2008 Chevrolet Uplander was traveling north on Old Highway 22 when it failed to yield the right of way to a 2017 Dodge Ram pickup heading east on State Highway 22.
Minivan Ended Up in a Ditch
The Dodge Ram struck the driver's side of the Chevrolet Uplander, which came to rest in a ditch, the preliminary report notes. The Uplander's driver, a 70-year-old Grand Chute man, died at the scene as a result of his injuries. His passenger, a 65-year-old Grand Chute woman, suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital by ambulance.
The pickup truck's driver, described as a 45-year-old woman from Almond, was not injured, and the same held true for her five juvenile passengers, none of whom reported any injuries.
