Grand Rapids is waking up to fog and mild temperatures Friday, with a Dense Fog Advisory in effect through 10 a.m. The murky start should give way to bright sunshine and an afternoon high near 69 degrees.
The advisory covers Kent County and warns that visibility could drop to a quarter-mile or less in denser pockets, creating hazardous driving conditions. The National Weather Service Grand Rapids advises drivers to slow down, turn on their headlights and leave extra distance ahead.
Sunny, Warm Afternoon Ahead
Friday’s fog is expected to thin by midmorning, with temperatures climbing from the mid-40s into the upper 60s by late afternoon. Winds will remain light from the east-southeast, and rain is not expected.
Mild Weekend Before Cooler Weather Arrives
Saturday may start with another round of patchy fog before becoming partly sunny, with a high near 68 degrees. Sunday looks mostly sunny and warmer, reaching about 70 degrees, while overnight lows settle in the upper 40s.
The pattern turns cooler Monday and Tuesday, with highs near 64 and 59 degrees under partly sunny to mostly cloudy skies. A slight chance of rain showers returns Thursday, though the day should remain mostly sunny with a high near 66 degrees.
