The sprawling property that once housed River Hills Family Fun Center in Greenfield is getting a wintertime makeover. Tripper Duval, owner of Holey Mackerel, is planning a Holiday Village there.
Duval is planning a Holiday Village at the property, according to OnMilwaukee.
More Than a Light Display
Duval says the goal is something closer to a functioning Christmas town than a drive-through light show. The attraction is also expected to feature large-scale holiday lighting, Santa appearances, Christmas tree sales, seasonal food and drinks, and a Holey Mackerel holiday finale, per the same report.
Holey Mackerel opened in August 2023 at the longtime site of River Hills Family Fun Center in Greenfield. The business previously announced an indoor pop-up called SipNShanty, which launched November 4 and ran until December 5. A Grinch-themed outdoor setup followed for the rest of December, featuring holiday decor, Christmas tree sales in the parking lot, hot cocoa, Santa photos and a holiday market stocked with local vendors, according to the Milwaukee Record. The Holiday Village is another seasonal offering from the business.
Betting on the Community to Build It
Duval is seeking community investment to make it happen, inviting local and regional businesses to become founding partners.
Businesses can support the village as founding sponsors. Businesses that want to be physically woven into the 2026 village are encouraged to commit by this Friday, October 16. Duval also plans to donate some of the proceeds to youth organizations or family-centered causes, with hopes that the village becomes an annual community tradition.
What's Still Unknown
The Holiday Village is planned for the former River Hills Family Fun Center site. Several key details remain unsettled. Public dates and admission information for the Holiday Village have not yet been announced, meaning would-be visitors will need to wait before they can start planning a trip.
Meanwhile, holiday programming elsewhere in Greenfield continues to take shape independently. The city has said its Cruisin' Santa Claus parade will send Santa, Mrs. Claus and friends through town, with nightly stops expected to begin at 6 p.m. and route maps posted by early December, according to the City of Greenfield.
