A Greensboro man already out on bond for multiple violent felonies, including a prior second-degree murder conviction, is now facing a felony assault charge and a long list of other counts after police say he shot another man earlier this week. Brandon R. Fox, 41, was arrested Saturday and is being held without bond at the Guilford County Jail.
The shooting happened Thursday, Oct. 15, at about 8:50 p.m., according to abc45.com. Just before 9 p.m. that evening, officers responded to the 2100 block of Windsor Street, where they found a man with a gunshot wound, according to a report from WXII 12. The victim told police he had actually been shot on East Florida Street before running to Windsor Street, abc45.com reported.
The man was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment, though no details on his condition were available, according to myfox8.com. Greensboro police announced the arrest Saturday.
A Lengthy Charge Sheet
Fox is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury in connection with the shooting, WXII 12 reported. Under North Carolina law, that offense is punishable as a Class C felony, according to North Carolina General Statutes § 14-32.
Beyond the assault charge, Fox also faces a pile of felony drug and firearm counts stemming from Saturday's arrest, abc45.com reported, including trafficking in cocaine, possession of a stolen firearm, maintaining a dwelling for keeping and selling cocaine and crack cocaine, and possession with intent to sell cocaine. The station's report also lists felony fleeing to elude arrest, resisting a public officer, reckless driving and hit-and-run involving property damage among the additional charges. Fox further faces two counts of injury to personal property and two additional traffic violations, per the same account.
Court Records Cite Prior Murder Conviction
Court documents state that Fox was out on bond for multiple violent felonies before Saturday's arrest and has prior convictions, including for second-degree murder, myfox8.com reported. The documents said Fox should not be granted any form of bail, calling him a clear danger to the community, according to the same outlet.
Those court filings were publicly available online through Guilford County eCourts, abc45.com noted. Fox's first court appearance was scheduled for Monday, according to abc45.com's report.
