Greenville is starting Monday, October 19, with clear skies and temperatures in the mid-40s, then warming into a sunny afternoon near 70. Rain is nowhere on the local forecast, but the dry air is bringing elevated fire-weather concerns to parts of the Upstate.
Afternoon Sunshine Comes With Very Dry Air
The National Weather Service Greenville-Spartanburg office says afternoon humidity could fall into the 20% to 30% range as winds mix the dry air downward. A Fire Danger Statement is in effect from noon to 7 p.m. Monday for parts of northeast Georgia; Greenville County is not listed, but residents should use caution with outdoor burning and anything that could spark a grass fire.
Northeast winds will run about 6 to 12 mph during the afternoon, with the high near 70. Monday night should stay clear and turn crisp again, with a low around 44 and lighter north-northeast winds.
Sunny Warmup Continues Through Thursday
Tuesday looks like the warmest day of the workweek, with sunshine and a high near 75 before temperatures dip to about 47 overnight. Wednesday should reach 72, followed by another sunny 74-degree afternoon Thursday, with clear nights in the mid-40s.
Cooler And Breezier By The Weekend
Friday remains sunny with a high near 71, while northeast winds strengthen later that night. Saturday will be the coolest day of the stretch at about 67 degrees, with northeast winds of 14 to 18 mph, before Sunday rebounds to a sunny 70.
The forecast carries a zero percent chance of precipitation through Sunday, so Greenville's week should be a parade of blue skies rather than showers. The tradeoff is increasingly dry vegetation and low humidity, making a little extra caution around flames a smart move.
