Greenville gets one more mostly quiet day Friday before a wet and windy weekend takes over. The high should reach about 76 degrees under mostly cloudy skies, but rain chances rise sharply overnight and Saturday could bring heavy rain, fog and gusts up to 37 mph.

Friday Stays Dry Before Rain Moves In

Friday afternoon looks mild and dry, with northeast winds increasing and low-end gusts possible. The outlook has sharpened since Thursday’s Hoodline forecast, with rain now expected to reach the area sooner and rainfall totals trending higher.

Showers become likely after 1 a.m. Saturday, while temperatures fall to around 59 degrees. Northeast winds could gust to 30 mph overnight.

Saturday Brings The Biggest Weather Concern

Saturday is forecast to stay cloudy and rainy, with showers continuing through the afternoon and patchy fog developing later in the day. The high may reach about 74 degrees, while northeast winds of 18 to 23 mph could produce gusts as high as 37 mph.

The National Weather Service’s Greenville-Spartanburg office says one to two inches of rain is possible Saturday, with excessive rainfall and localized flash flooding remaining concerns from Saturday afternoon into Sunday morning. The heaviest totals are expected near the Blue Ridge Escarpment and other southeast-facing mountain slopes, where several inches could accumulate.

Saturday night stays unsettled, with showers and possible thunderstorms. No active watches, warnings or advisories are listed for the area at this time, but conditions could become hazardous for driving, especially where water collects on roads or visibility drops in fog.

Sunday Remains Stormy Before The Skies Clear

Showers and thunderstorms are expected to ease before 11 a.m. The high should reach about 75 degrees; forecasters are also watching a small risk for severe thunderstorms as the system moves through.

Sunday night should turn mostly clear, with temperatures dropping to around 59 degrees. That sets up a much calmer start to the workweek.

Sunny And Warmer Weather Returns Monday

Columbus Day is forecast to be sunny with a high near 82 degrees, followed by another sunny 83-degree day Tuesday. Wednesday should remain sunny and warm before temperatures ease back to the upper 70s Thursday.
