Greenville is starting Friday with clear skies and temperatures in the mid-60s, but the Upstate is about to squeeze one more summer-like day out of the calendar. Sunshine will push the high near 88 degrees before a stormy, much cooler weekend arrives.
Friday should stay mostly sunny and dry, with southwest winds between 0 and 8 mph and only an 8% chance of rain. The National Weather Service expects partly cloudy skies Friday night, with temperatures dropping to around 68.
Saturday Starts Quiet Then Turns Stormy
Saturday will begin warm and mostly cloudy, with a high near 85 and only a slight chance of showers or thunderstorms early in the afternoon. Storm chances increase after 2 p.m., with an 80% chance of rain and new rainfall totals potentially reaching a quarter to half an inch.
Saturday night looks wetter, with showers and thunderstorms likely, a 90% rain chance and a low near 63. The unsettled pattern continues Sunday, when rain showers are expected before late-day thunderstorms, keeping the high near 70.
Localized Flooding Becomes A Weekend Concern
Forecasters are flagging at least a marginal risk for excessive rain Saturday and Sunday, meaning repeated or locally heavy downpours could create flooding in spots. Confidence in exact rainfall totals remains limited, but the latest outlook is considerably wetter and cooler than Hoodline's earlier Greenville forecast, which had called for a mostly sunny Sunday near 87 degrees.
Cooler, Drier Air Takes Over Next Week
Monday brings a slight chance of showers before 2 p.m. and a high near 78, followed by a much cooler Tuesday with mostly sunny skies, northeast winds of 12 to 17 mph and a high near 68.
Tuesday night and Wednesday morning could feel more like fall, with lows near 49 and sunny conditions returning Wednesday. A small chance of patchy frost is possible in sheltered mountain locations early Wednesday, while Greenville itself should stay dry and seasonably cool.
