Showers and thunderstorms are expected to build through Saturday afternoon, with heavy rain continuing into Sunday and a cooler, soggier feel settling over the weekend.
The National Weather Service Greenville-Spartanburg forecasts a high near 83 degrees Saturday, with rain chances rising from late morning into the afternoon. The forecast calls for an 80% chance of precipitation and between a quarter- and half-inch of rain in the Greenville area.
Saturday Storms Arrive By Afternoon
A few showers could appear between 10 and 11 a.m., followed by a growing chance of thunderstorms around midday. Storm coverage is expected to become more widespread from midafternoon through the evening, when brief heavy downpours could make outdoor plans and travel more difficult.
Showers and thunderstorms will continue Saturday night, with a low near 63 degrees and a 90% chance of rain. Additional rainfall could total between one-half and three-quarters of an inch, raising the potential for localized flooding where storms repeatedly pass over the same areas.
Sunday Turns Cooler And Wetter
Sunday will be markedly cooler, with a high near 70 degrees and rain showers likely through the morning. Patchy fog could linger before 2 p.m., followed by more showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening, with another three-quarters to 1 inch of rain possible.
No flood watch is currently listed, but the combination of rain Saturday night and Sunday could create trouble in low-lying areas and on roads that drain poorly. Drivers should avoid water-covered roadways and check conditions before heading out, especially during the heaviest downpours.
Clearer Weather Arrives Monday
Monday brings a quick turn toward more manageable weather, though a slight chance of showers remains before 8 a.m. Skies should become partly sunny later, with a high near 78 degrees, and the forecast turns dry from Monday afternoon onward.
Sunny and cooler conditions are expected Tuesday and Wednesday, with highs near 70 and 71 degrees and overnight lows around 50. Temperatures then rebound into the mid-70s Thursday and Friday, offering a much calmer finish after a very wet weekend.
