A Friday afternoon gathering at a home on Dixie Drive in Anderson, South Carolina, turned into a crime scene when a gunman opened fire on the crowd, striking two people. Deputies said the suspect had not yet been caught, and as of Friday evening, an active search for that person was still underway.
According to WYFF, a crowd had gathered for a party at the home on Friday afternoon when the suspect opened fire, striking two people. Both victims were taken to AnMed, though their conditions had not been released. Deputies said the suspect had not yet been caught and that the search remained active.
Few Details Released So Far
Investigators have not said how many people were at the gathering, what led up to the gunfire, or whether the shooter knew the victims. The station's report does not identify the victims or specify their injuries, and no description of the suspect has been made public. Those gaps leave much of the incident still unresolved as deputies continue working the case.
The Dixie Drive shooting is the latest in a string of incidents involving gunfire at gatherings in the Anderson area. On New Year's Eve 2025, a shooting left four people wounded after police were called to Whitehall Avenue at 10:09 p.m. following a large gathering at an event center, according to Fox Carolina. Two of the victims in that shooting were 17 years old, while the other two were 24 and 26. Police in that case said they had not released suspect details but were “actively following up on strong leads.”
A Deadlier Shooting at a Local Bar
Anderson has also seen fatal gunfire tied to a dispute at a nightlife venue. In a separate shooting at Truth Bar and Grill on West Franklin Street, two people died at the scene, 54-year-old Calvin Chester Jr. and 30-year-old Roymad Shaquil McDaniel, per WSPA. Both victims worked as bouncers at the bar. Three other people were receiving treatment at AnMed for their injuries, and preliminary reports indicated a fight broke out at the bar before shots were fired.
No arrests have been reported in the Dixie Drive case, and deputies have not said whether it is connected to any other recent shootings in the area. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact authorities as the search for the suspect continues.
