A man wearing aviator sunglasses, a black hooded jacket, and a white beanie walked into a Baker's grocery store near 90th and Fort Streets in Omaha, pointed a silver revolver at an employee in the customer service area, and demanded cash — then was gone again in a matter of seconds, with police asking for help tracking him down.
The robbery happened on September 29 at the Baker's store at 90th and Fort Streets, according to KETV. Surveillance footage reviewed by the station shows the suspect exiting a white truck in the store's parking lot around 11 a.m., pausing at one point to wave through another car before heading inside. Once at the customer service area, he reportedly told the employee, “Put all the money in a bag,” before grabbing it and walking out.
The actual robbery lasted only a few seconds, but the entire sequence — from the suspect's arrival in the parking lot to his departure — stretched to three minutes and 48 seconds, per the station's report. After leaving the store, the man climbed into the passenger seat of the getaway truck, suggesting at least one other person was involved.
What Investigators Are Looking For
Police describe the suspect as a Black male wearing aviator sunglasses, a black hooded jacket, and a white beanie, and note he appeared to be wearing a white shirt with blue lettering underneath, the same report states. The getaway vehicle is described as a 2008 to 2010 Chevrolet Colorado truck with its license plates removed, a detail that could make the truck harder to trace through routine traffic cameras.
Nebraska law treats what happened at the counter as more than a simple theft. Under Nebraska Revised Statute § 28-324, taking property forcibly or by putting someone in fear qualifies as robbery, a Class II felony punishable by 1 to 50 years in prison, and displaying a weapon to instill fear can satisfy that force requirement. Separately, using a firearm to commit a felony is its own charge under Nebraska Revised Statute § 28-1205, carrying a mandatory consecutive sentence that would be served in addition to, not alongside, any robbery conviction.
The store sits at 5555 North 90th Street.
How to Submit a Tip
Omaha Crime Stoppers is accepting tips related to the robbery at 402-444-STOP, online, or through the P3 Tips App, according to KETV. Tips are anonymous, and people who submit them are not asked to testify in court. The organization is a nonprofit affiliated with the Omaha Police Department, and reward payouts are approved by a board made up of private citizens, funded through donations and fundraising rather than the police budget.
Omaha Crime Stoppers has a process for awarding rewards. The organization says tips are anonymous, helping shield tipsters' identities.
The case adds to a string of recent commercial robberies and thefts across Omaha that have prompted Crime Stoppers appeals, including a nine-minute power tool heist at a Megasaver on September 26. It also comes amid broader attention to declining crime and community partnerships in Omaha. Nationally, robbery offenses at major metropolitan police departments fell 17% in the first half of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025, according to a Major Cities Chiefs Association survey — a reminder that even as broader numbers trend down, commercial hubs like Plaza North remain vulnerable to brazen daytime holdups.
