A gunman walked into a business in the 2600 block of South RL Thornton Freeway on September 6, pulled out a handgun and demanded money from an employee before grabbing cigarettes and running out the door. More than a month later, Dallas police still don't know who he is, and they're asking the public for help tracking him down.
According to DPD Beat, the robbery happened at approximately 10:38 p.m. The suspect displayed the weapon, demanded cash from the employee, took cigarettes, and fled the scene. The case remains an open investigation, documented under case number 131809-2026.
DPD Beat reports that police are asking the public for help identifying the suspect.
A String of Store Holdups
This is not the only recent stickup reported along the South RL Thornton Freeway corridor. Fox 4 News notes that a separate robbery was reported at Buy Low Discount Beer & Wine in the 2900 block of South RL Thornton Freeway, where a suspect allegedly held the store's clerk at gunpoint and forced him to empty the cash register and a supply of Newport cigarettes into a duffel bag. The clerk described the suspect as a 5-foot-7 Black male, while surveillance footage showed his face covered.
The station's report notes that Detective Eduardo Lopez Villa indicated investigators believe the suspect in that case may have committed similar robberies before and could keep targeting stores.
Earlier Pattern on Cedar Crest Boulevard
Dallas police have dealt with other rounds of repeat store robberies this year. The same dpdbeat.com outlet reported in July that police were requesting the public's assistance to identify suspects seen robbing a business multiple times in the 2200 block of Cedar Crest Boulevard, with incidents occurring on June 20, June 26 and July 9. No injuries were reported in any of those incidents. As with the Buy Low case, there is no established link between those earlier robberies and the September 6 incident.
For residents wanting a broader view of crime trends in the area, the Dallas Police Department maintains a crime-reports resource offering weekly updates with 14-day, 28-day and year-to-date comparisons, while the city also runs a Crime Analytics Dashboard for residents tracking citywide data.
For now, the September 6 case remains unsolved, and detectives are relying on tips from anyone who might recognize the suspect or have information about what happened that night.
