Albuquerque is heading into a stormy late-October stretch, with scattered showers and thunderstorms expected Thursday after a partly cloudy morning. A station reading was 63 degrees, while Thursday’s high is forecast to reach 75.
Storms Build Through Thursday Night
Showers and thunderstorms could become more common Thursday afternoon, with a 50% chance of precipitation and east winds between 5 and 15 mph. The threat continues Thursday night, when the low should fall to 55 degrees and the chance of rain and storms rises to 70%.
The National Weather Service in Albuquerque is warning of a broader flash-flood threat across parts of central New Mexico through Friday, especially where recent rain has left the ground saturated. Stronger storms could produce heavy downpours, large hail and damaging wind gusts, so drivers should avoid flooded roads and low-water crossings.
Cooler And Wetter Weekend
Friday brings another round of scattered showers and thunderstorms, with a high near 75 and a 30% chance of precipitation during the day. Rain chances increase again Friday night, then peak Saturday, when showers are likely and the high could reach 68 degrees.
Sunday looks cooler, with scattered showers and a high near 64 degrees. The weekend’s temperatures will be a noticeable step down from Thursday’s mid-70s, with Saturday night dipping to about 47 degrees.
Sunshine Returns Monday
Drier weather is expected to settle in Monday, followed by mostly sunny skies Tuesday and Wednesday. Monday’s high should reach near 67 degrees.
