A midday traffic stop on Meade Village Road in Severn ended with officers pulling a loaded 9mm Glock handgun out of a gray 2010 Infiniti and arresting the driver, 22-year-old Jalen Isaiah Gill of Hanover, who police say was prohibited from possessing firearms. The stop happened around 11:50 a.m. on Monday near Fairbrook Court, according to police.
The Anne Arundel County Police Department documented the stop under case number 26-733675, confirming that Western District patrol officers recovered the loaded Glock after stopping Gill's vehicle, according to Anne Arundel County Government. Police say Gill possessed the loaded firearm despite being disqualified from owning one, and he was arrested at the scene and charged with a weapons violation, according to FOX45 News.
A Familiar Name From a 2023 Machete Brawl
This isn't Gill's first run-in with Anne Arundel County police over a weapon. In February 2023, when he was 19, Gill was arrested after a driveway brawl on Riverdale Road in Severna Park where he reportedly brandished a machete to help an accomplice in a knife fight, per Daily Voice. That earlier incident resulted in criminal charges against four individuals after a dispute among teenagers escalated into an armed confrontation, the outlet reported.
That prior record matters now because Maryland law imposes steep penalties on people disqualified from gun ownership who are caught with a firearm anyway. Under Maryland Public Safety Code § 5-133, possessing a regulated firearm while disqualified by a prior qualifying conviction is a felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison, including a mandatory minimum of five years without parole if the earlier offense counted as a crime of violence, according to FrizWoods. Separately, Maryland Criminal Law Code § 4-203 makes it a misdemeanor to knowingly transport a handgun in a vehicle without a valid permit, carrying up to three years in prison and a $2,500 fine for a first offense, the same legal source notes.
Meade Village's Violent Recent History
The stretch of road where Gill was stopped sits in a neighborhood that has seen serious violence in recent years. In March 2025, a shooting at a community park on Meade Village Road left two men dead and two others injured, drawing major public safety scrutiny to the area, as reported by WBAL Baltimore.
The block has also been the site of a targeted killing. In June 2024, 34-year-old Keion McKinney was shot and killed in the 1600 block of Meade Village Circle, a case that earlier Hoodline reporting detailed ended in the October 2026 murder conviction of a Baltimore man, according to Anne Arundel County Government. Detectives ultimately determined the 2024 shooting was a targeted attack, the agency said.
The surrounding housing development is known as Heritage at Severn, according to the Housing Commission of Anne Arundel County.
Another Severn Gun Arrest
Severn and Hanover fall under the Anne Arundel County Police Department's Western District Station.
Hoodline previously covered a similar case in which a Laurel man was caught with a loaded 9mm during a nearly identical Western District traffic stop in Severn.
