Officers Find Shot-Up Car, Then Learn of a Hospitalized Victim
According to the Harrisburg Bureau of Police, officers responded at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday to a report of shots fired in the 1800 block of North 3rd Street. When they arrived, they located an unoccupied vehicle that had been struck by gunfire, but no victim was immediately found at the scene. A little later, police said the man showed up at the hospital with what turned out to be non-life-threatening injuries, as reported by abc27.com. The same report also formed the basis for WGAL's coverage of the incident.
Police have not released details on how the man was hurt, what kind of weapon was used, or how many shots were fired. The investigation is ongoing, per the same account, and officers have not named a suspect or announced any arrest in connection with the shooting.
A String of Recent Harrisburg Shootings
Tuesday's shooting adds to a run of gun violence that has rattled Harrisburg neighborhoods in recent weeks. On Sept. 16, officers were dispatched around 9:15 p.m. to the 1200 block of North 14th Street for a report of shots fired and found a man suffering from gunshot wounds, according to PennLive. That man was taken to a hospital, but his condition remained unknown as of the following Wednesday.
Earlier in the summer, a cluster of shootings unfolded within hours of one another. At about 2 a.m. on Aug. 29, officers were sent to North Second and Cranberry streets for a shooting with an injury, and the man involved arrived at a hospital in stable condition, PennLive reported. Around the same time that morning, a man was found dead inside a home in the 900 block of North Third Street. And on Aug. 16, a man suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound in a shooting on the 400 block of Spring Street. A 24-year-old Harrisburg man was later arrested after police said he shot another man in the city over a prior weekend, PennLive also reported.
