Hartford is starting Friday under cloudy skies and temperatures in the upper 50s, with rain showers and patchy fog expected through the morning. The city could reach the upper 60s before a stronger round of showers arrives Friday evening, setting up a sharp turn toward chilly fall weather.
Rain And Fog Complicate Friday
Rain showers are likely through the morning and into early afternoon, with a chance of a temporary lull later in the day. The National Weather Service forecast calls for a second round of showers between about 5 and 11 p.m., with an embedded thunderstorm or two possible.
South winds will run 10 to 13 mph during the day, with gusts up to 29 mph. Winds shift west Friday night as showers continue, and a few stronger storms could produce locally damaging gusts, although the overall severe-weather threat is expected to remain limited, according to the National Weather Service.
Colder, Windier Saturday
A cold front will clear the area Saturday morning, leaving Hartford with a slight chance of an early shower before skies turn partly sunny. The high should reach only about 51 degrees, while strong northwest winds could gust well into the 30 mph range, with some gusts to 40 mph possible.
Saturday night will be clear and notably cold, with temperatures dropping to around 32 degrees in Hartford. That could bring the first near-freezing night of the season for many inland neighborhoods, especially after the wind diminishes.
Sunshine Returns For The Week Ahead
Sunday looks sunny with a high near 56, followed by sunny conditions Monday with a high near 61 and mostly sunny Tuesday with a high near 64. Wednesday should remain sunny around 63 degrees.
Overnight lows will generally range from the mid-30s to low 40s through the middle of next week, with little chance of rain after Saturday morning. In other words, Hartford gets one soggy Friday, one brisk reset, and then a much calmer stretch.
