The Helldorado Days Rodeo is riding back into downtown Las Vegas for two nights of bull riding, barrel racing and team roping, with tickets already on sale for the Friday, Nov. 13 and Saturday, Nov. 14 shows at CORE Arena. Organizers have tacked on extra seating across three ticket tiers this year, a response to a show that keeps selling out.

A PRCA-Sanctioned Return to CORE Arena

The rodeo returns to CORE Arena at the Plaza Hotel & Casino, according to FOX5 Las Vegas. The two-night event is fully sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and the Women's Professional Rodeo Association, and it carries $45,000 in prize purses, per Nevada Business. Riders will compete in bull riding, barrel racing, team roping, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, saddle bronc riding, breakaway and bareback riding across both nights.

Each night's competition kicks off at 6 p.m., with gates opening two hours earlier at 4 p.m. so guests can settle in before the action starts, the outlet notes. That early window gives families time to check out western-themed carnival activities before the chutes open.

New VIP+ Section Added as Sellouts Continue

Because the rodeo sells out every year, organizers are adding more seats across three ticket levels for 2026, per the same report. General admission bleacher-style seating starts at $26, while VIP tickets run $46. A new VIP+ tier, priced at $106, puts fans in individual chairs on tiered risers just steps from the chutes, with access to private bars and restrooms included.

Beyond the competition itself, the event folds in a mix of family and cowboy-culture programming. There's mutton bustin for the kids, a Whiskerino contest for the whiskered, and a historical exhibit area tracing the event's roots. Once the final ride wraps each night, the modern country music DJ duo Country Night takes over the arena for a post-rodeo set, the station's report states.

A Downtown Tradition With Disputed Beginnings

Helldorado Days carries a long and occasionally murky history in Las Vegas. Plaza Hotel & Casino materials trace the rodeo's origins to 1936, when the event was created to honor workers on the Hoover Dam, according to the Plaza Hotel & Casino. The Las Vegas Review-Journal, however, places the event's beginnings a couple years earlier, in 1934, when city leaders hoped a celebration tied to the dam's construction would convince workers and visitors to stick around town. The two accounts don't agree on the exact year, but both tie the tradition back to the dam-building era.

The event didn't run continuously. Production costs climbed and sponsorship support dried up, and Helldorado Days disappeared by the late 1990s, the Review-Journal reports. It came back in 2005 after that hiatus, according to the Plaza Hotel & Casino, and the Plaza itself took over as host of the rodeo at CORE Arena in 2019.

The event's parade tradition stretches back even further, with 8 News Now noting more than 70 years of Las Vegas history tied to Helldorado Days parades, including a 1955 rodeo held right on Fremont Street. More recent parades ran through downtown Las Vegas in 2010, 2016 and 2017, per that same archive.
