A Separate Rescue Near Kahuku
Sunday's incident echoes past emergencies at the same rugged riding grounds. In February 2022, the fire department rescued another motocross rider in the park after learning the patient was deep inside the area, a discovery that forced crews to upgrade the response with an HFD rescue company and Air 1, the Star-Advertiser reported at the time. That rider was ultimately extricated by helicopter and handed off to EMS at the landing zone, mirroring Sunday's sequence.
In a separate incident, Hawaii News Now reported that a location near the Kahuku Motocross Track was accessible only by off-road vehicles.
