A 47-year-old man died after being stabbed multiple times in the torso near 926 Sedgwick Avenue in Highbridge, and police now have a person of interest in custody as the investigation continues. Officers found him around 11:10 p.m. Monday night, and he was rushed to a local hospital, where he later died.

According to PIX11, the NYPD said the stabbing happened Monday evening in the Highbridge section of the Bronx. Officers located the victim near 926 Sedgwick Avenue with multiple stab wounds to the torso, and EMS transported him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A String of Recent Bronx Stabbings

Monday's killing adds to a run of violent stabbing cases across the Bronx in recent weeks. In Fordham, police found an unidentified man believed to be in his 20s with a stab wound to the back just before 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 5 near Walton Avenue and East Fordham Road, according to amNY. That victim later died at Saint Barnabas Hospital, and amNY reported that no arrests had been made as that investigation continued.

Highbridge itself saw other deadly violence in 2025. ABC7 New York reported that two people were charged with murder and manslaughter in the death of 30-year-old Shashamanie Thompson, in a case authorities described as a deadly dispute among neighbors. Officials told the station the victim and the suspects lived on separate floors of the same Ogden Avenue building and had a history of disputes.

Another Case Still Unsolved

A separate Bronx stabbing in Longwood remains unresolved as well. ABC7 reported that a man believed to be in his 60s was found dead with a stab wound to the chest during a wellness check on a Wednesday inside his Longwood Avenue apartment, and detectives believed he had been dead for at least a week when he was discovered. Police recovered surveillance video showing a person of interest in the apartment hallway around the same time and were still searching for him, per the same report.

No details on a motive, a recovered weapon, or potential charges in Monday's Highbridge stabbing have been released. The NYPD has not identified the victim or the person of interest taken into custody, and the case remains under investigation.
