Hilton Head Island Coffee Roasters is throwing open the doors on its second shop with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 16, marking the formal debut of its New Orleans Road location on the island's south end. The new spot, at 38C New Orleans Road, Suite 101, has actually been pouring coffee since a soft opening back in June, but Friday's event makes it official.

According to the Post and Courier, the Oct. 16 ceremony will celebrate both the New Orleans Road shop's opening and the company's continued growth on Hilton Head Island, and the company has invited community members to join the celebration. The shop is designed as a hybrid coffee shop and retail destination, with expanded seating and room for customers to browse its retail collection, the paper reports.

What's on the Shelves

Beyond espresso drinks, the New Orleans Road location sells freshly roasted coffee beans, local honey, books, mugs and other items, per the same report. The retail lineup also includes custom apparel screen-printed by Pockets Full of Sunshine, a Hilton Head Island nonprofit that creates employment and social opportunities for adults with intellectual and physical disabilities.

The company's team told the paper it was grateful for the strong support since the June soft opening and said the new space allows it to serve more of the community. Their stated goal, the outlet notes, is simple: bring people together over great coffee.

Five Years From a Cardinal Road Roastery

Hilton Head Island Coffee Roasters has built its business over the past five years from its original roastery and espresso bar on Cardinal Road, on the island's north end, according to the Post and Courier. Along the way, the company has expanded its reach across the Lowcountry through wholesale partnerships, though the report does not name specific wholesale accounts.

Separate reporting from WJCL describes the company as 100% women-owned, with every cup made from beans roasted in-house into island-inspired blends such as Shark Fin, Island Time and Stingray. That station also reports the business started inside the homes of Susannah and Douglas Winters, who roasted coffee and sold it at local farmers markets before growing into a storefront operation.

A Focus on Hospitality and Flexibility

As the company has grown, its team remains focused on hospitality, personal connections, coffee quality and a supportive workplace for employees, the Post and Courier reports. WJCL adds that the company provides flexible work schedules for mothers as part of that workplace culture.

Shoppers can already find Hilton Head Island Coffee Roasters products beyond its two storefronts. Per Local Life, the company's offerings are sold at local retailers and farmers markets, including the Palmetto Dunes General Store, Piggly Wiggly and Hilton Head Island farmers markets. More information on the grand opening, the company and its wholesale opportunities is available through its Cardinal Road and New Orleans Road locations and at hiltonheadcoffee.com.
