A tiny hand-roll bar that's made a name for itself in Hollywood is looking to grow up and across town. Iki Nori, the 12-seat sushi counter known for its omakase sets and hand rolls, is planning a new location in Palms, taking over a corner space inside the freshly built Venue development at 3688 Overland Avenue.

The expansion was reported by WhatNow Los Angeles, which detailed the restaurant's plans for the new Palms corner space. Separately, toddrickallen.com reported that a new Japanese restaurant is taking over the corner space in the new Venue development at 3688 Overland Avenue, describing a menu built around à la carte sushi and hand rolls alongside an Iki omakase menu and an omakase lite option. The outlet also noted the restaurant's self-description as a celebration of Japanese culture, elevated hospitality, and approachable luxury.

Iki Nori currently operates out of a snug, 12-seat hand-roll bar at 6464 Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, a space the Los Angeles Times has described as an intimate 12-seat hand roll bar. The restaurant is backed by partners Jeffry Undiarto, Hiroyuki Masato, Sebastian Karyadi and Andy Juliady, per the same account, and its menu runs from hand rolls to nigiri and sashimi, including a signature premium set built around toro, lobster, uni and Wagyu.

What's On the Menu Now

At the Hollywood location, diners can order à la carte alongside a cocktail program featuring yuzu margaritas and highballs, according to LA Weekly. The tasting menus range from a $98 Omakase Lite to the $150 IKI Omakase, with a $58 eight-course lunch omakase offered as a lower-priced alternative, the outlet reported. IKI Hospitality Group, which also runs IKI Ramen in Koreatown, has also opened Padi Los Angeles just next door to the Hollywood hand-roll bar.

Iki Nori is operated by IKI Hospitality, a Los Angeles-based restaurant group whose other concepts include Iki Ramen + Sushi, Akami Sushi, and Padi Indonesian, according to WhatNow Los Angeles reporting attributed to writer Daniela Velez. Jeffry Undiarto, described as a master sommelier and founder of IKI Hospitality, is listed as chef and CEO of the group on its own website, which notes him by name on IKI Nori's page. Undiarto has said IKI Nori is targeting an opening in the first or second quarter of 2027, according to WhatNow Los Angeles.

From Bali to a Hollywood Hand-Roll Bar

Undiarto's path to running a Los Angeles hospitality group began well before Iki Nori's hand rolls started drawing crowds. He moved from Bali to Los Angeles in 2005, he told Voyage LA, and years later opened Iki Ramen in December 2018 with a menu of ramen, sushi, sashimi and izakaya-style dishes, per that same interview. The Los Angeles Times has framed the later opening of the Hollywood hand-roll bar as part of a broader sushi-focused expansion for the team behind the ramen shop.

A New Corner in a Growing Development

The Venue development where Iki Nori hopes to land is a mixed-use project combining housing with street-fronting commercial space, according to la.urbanize.city, which reported the project includes a combined total of 205 one- and two-bedroom apartments and 3,000 square feet of street-fronting commercial space. The outlet also noted the property sits on a T-shaped parcel spanning 3664-3688 Overland Avenue and 3667-3673 Keystone Avenue.

Iki Nori's potential arrival comes amid other restaurant shuffles nearby. WhatNow Los Angeles has also reported that Cafe Starlings, a new concept from Overland Hospitality, is planned for the former Overland Cafe space at 3601 S. Overland Avenue, and that Mee & Greet plans to relocate to that same address after closing its longtime location at 3500 Overland Avenue.
