Houston is starting Thursday clear and cool near 63 degrees, but the afternoon will feel more like late summer, with sunshine pushing temperatures to about 85. Rain is not expected, and light northeast winds should keep the day comfortable for most outdoor plans.
Sunny Skies, But Watch The Air
The National Weather Service Houston/Galveston expects dry conditions across the city, with humidity falling during the afternoon. Afternoon temperatures should reach the low to mid-80s.
The bigger wrinkle is air quality: the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has issued an Ozone Action Day for Thursday. The agency says ozone levels could reach the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups range in parts of the Houston area, with the highest concentrations expected during the afternoon and early evening, according to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
Warm, Dry Weather Holds Through Sunday
Friday is expected to reach a high near 86 before temperatures drop to around 61 overnight. Saturday should reach about 83 under mostly sunny skies, while Sunday turns slightly cooler with a high near 80 and mostly sunny conditions.
Rain chances remain essentially zero through the weekend, and inland winds should stay generally light at 5 to 10 mph. Coastal locations may run cooler, with upper-70s temperatures possible around Galveston.
Rain Chances Finally Creep In Tuesday
Monday remains warm and partly sunny near 81 degrees. A chance of rain arrives Tuesday, and the broader outlook for next week is near 80 degrees.
The dry air may also bring elevated fire-weather concerns later in the week, although the forecast calls for light enough winds to remain below red-flag criteria. People who are sensitive to ozone should consider limiting strenuous outdoor activity during Thursday afternoon and early evening, when pollution levels are expected to peak.
