Houston woke up Monday near 58 degrees under mostly clear skies, but the cool start will not stick around for long. Increasing sunshine should push temperatures toward 78 degrees this afternoon. Light winds will shift from northerly early to easterly around 5 to 10 knots inland later in the morning. It is a pleasant reset after the weekend chill, even if fall still seems to be negotiating with summer.
The National Weather Service Houston/Galveston expects mostly clear to partly cloudy skies this afternoon, with a 0% precipitation probability for Houston (IAH). East winds should run around 5 to 10 mph, keeping conditions comfortable for errands, patios and outdoor plans. No watches or warnings are in effect.
The 80s Take Over By Midweek
Monday night will turn partly cloudy with a low near 59 degrees. Tuesday should be sunny and warmer, reaching about 82 degrees before temperatures dip to roughly 61 Tuesday night.
The warmup continues Wednesday, when Houston could reach 84 degrees, followed by highs near 85 Thursday and 85 Friday. Inland overnight lows will range from the low 50s to 60s.
Dry Inland With A Coastal Caveat
Rain chances remain close to zero inland through Saturday, with dry conditions expected to persist through the weekend. The main exception is near the coast, where a few passing showers could affect offshore waters or Matagorda Bay Monday through Wednesday.
For most Houstonians, the week ahead looks like a steady climb from a crisp morning into classic sunny 80s weather. Light winds and low rain chances should make the stretch favorable for commuting, outdoor workouts and late-season plans.
