Houston is waking up to clear skies Friday, with temperatures in the low 70s before another afternoon near 90 degrees. The dry, sunny stretch will continue through the weekend, giving residents a rare October forecast that feels more like summer than fall.

Sunny, Hot Weekend Ahead

Friday will be sunny with east-to-northeast winds of 5 to 15 mph and a high near 90. Skies will remain clear Friday night, with temperatures dipping to around 70 before Saturday brings another sunny day near 90.

Sunday will stay sunny and warm, with highs near 90 and a nighttime low around 74. The National Weather Service says lower humidity will linger inland through the weekend, although the pattern will begin shifting as onshore winds return.

Coastal Conditions Remain Dangerous

Houston-area beach and boating plans need extra caution, especially near Galveston. A National Weather Service discussion says a high risk of rip currents will continue through late Friday, while a Small Craft Advisory remains in effect for coastal waters into early Saturday.

Seas could reach 5 to 7 feet nearshore and 7 to 9 feet offshore, with minor coastal flooding possible as tide levels run above normal. The forecast office says Houston's inland impacts from Hurricane Isaias should remain limited, but coastal conditions could be hazardous.

Storm Chances Return Next Week

The summerlike pattern returns Monday, when mostly sunny skies will give way to a 30% chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Tuesday brings a chance of thunderstorms, with daily convective development expected through Wednesday; highs are forecast at 90 Monday and 91 Tuesday, with above-normal overnight lows.

Thursday should turn mostly sunny again near 90 degrees. A stronger change may arrive later in the month if a cold front reaches Southeast Texas around October 16 through October 18, but for now, Houston is looking at several more days of heat before fall gets a real audition.
