Houston is starting Monday after mostly cloudy skies overnight, with temperatures in the mid-60s and partly cloudy conditions expected during the day, setting up an afternoon high of about 84 degrees. Rain is not expected today, and a light east wind should keep things fairly comfortable by Houston standards.
Partly Cloudy Monday, Warm Tuesday
The National Weather Service Houston/Galveston office expects partly cloudy skies Monday, with east winds around 5 mph and a dry forecast. Monday night turns mostly cloudy with a low near 63, while Tuesday stays warm near 82 with a 0% rain chance.
Wednesday brings the first more noticeable rain risk, though it remains limited: a 20% chance of showers after 1 p.m. and a high near 83. Thursday looks mostly sunny and dry near 89, but another slight shower chance returns Friday afternoon before Saturday's forecast calls for a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms.
Weekend Heat Hangs On
Saturday could reach 83 with scattered showers or thunderstorms, then Sunday turns mostly sunny and warmer, with a high near 85. Overnight lows remain mild, generally in the upper 60s through the weekend, so the calendar may say late October while the weather continues to act like it has summer plans.
Coastal Caution Through Monday Night
There are no land-based watches or warnings for the Houston area. On the Gulf, however, the forecast calls for small craft to exercise caution through late Monday night, with moderate east winds and seas of 4 to 6 feet, possibly reaching 7 feet offshore.
Beachgoers should also note a moderate to high risk of strong rip currents along Gulf-facing beaches. Winds and seas are expected to ease somewhat Tuesday into Wednesday, but isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms may return across the region as Gulf moisture increases later in the week.
