An 11-year-old girl went missing from Hyattsville on Thursday, and police are now turning to the public for help finding her. Ashley Manueles Chancon was last seen around 4 p.m. in the 6700 block of New Hampshire Avenue, and as of Sunday morning, no update on her whereabouts had been released.
According to a Prince George's County Police Department Facebook post, Ashley is described as 4 feet 8 inches tall and weighing about 120 pounds. She was last seen wearing a black shirt along with dark-colored bottoms described in the department's post as “black plants.”
The department's post does not include additional details about the circumstances surrounding her disappearance, nor does it list a case number or an investigating officer's contact information. Anyone who locates her is asked to call 911 right away, per the same post.
What We Still Don't Know
The Facebook post offers only the basics: her age, height, weight, last-seen time and location, and clothing description. There is no confirmation yet on whether Ashley has been found, and no further information has been made public about what happened before she went missing.
Residents in the New Hampshire Avenue corridor of Hyattsville are being asked to stay alert and report any sightings immediately rather than approach the situation themselves. Families searching for more information or resources on missing children cases in the county can also check the Prince George's County Missing Persons site.
This remains a developing situation, and Hoodline will update this story if police release new information about Ashley's whereabouts or the circumstances of her disappearance.
