Officers were called after a report that a child was not breathing; emergency efforts at the scene were unsuccessful. The cause and manner of death have not been determined.
According to KARK, officers were called to a residence in the 5800 block of Alta Vista Drive around 9:30 a.m. after receiving a report of a child who was not breathing. When they arrived, they found an unresponsive infant, and emergency efforts were made at the scene, but the child was pronounced dead. The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports the home sits just south of Camp Robinson, roughly three miles northwest of the Interstate 40 and Interstate 30 interchange.
Detectives Processing the Scene
Detectives are continuing to investigate. THV11 reported that they processed the scene and are conducting interviews. The Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported that no cause or manner of death has been determined.
The infant's body will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory, where an autopsy will help determine the cause and manner of death, according to the same account. No further details about the child have been released at this stage of the investigation.
