Gunshot Rings Out as Officers Work the Crowd
As officers worked to break up the crowd, they heard a gunshot, per JSO. It was only afterward that they discovered the woman had been shot, according to the same report. Investigators have not released details on what led to the shooting, and the exact circumstances remain unclear.
The woman was taken to a local hospital, where she remains in stable condition, the agency said.
Another Overnight Shooting Reported Days Earlier
This marks the second shooting involving a woman reported in Jacksonville within the span of a few days. Earlier in the week, a woman in her early 50s was shot in the ankle while walking in Jacksonville Heights after she told officers she heard an argument followed by gunfire, according to News4JAX. The shootings occurred within a few days of each other.
