A 22-year-old mother from the Katy area has not been seen since a hit-and-run crash on Interstate 10 in Louisiana during the early morning hours of Sept. 30, and investigators believe she may have been behind the wheel of one of the vehicles involved. Christin Munn-Holliday dropped her children off with her parents on Sept. 29 and left for Louisiana in a gray late-model BMW, and her parents say they never heard from her again.
Louisiana State Police said the crash happened on I-10 eastbound near milepost 128 in Iberville Parish, according to wafb.com. Investigators believe Munn-Holliday was driving one of the vehicles involved, and troopers say she left the scene on foot and has not been located since. Reporter Bryce Newberry of KPRC Click2Houston reported that Munn-Holliday's parents had no contact with her after she headed to Louisiana, and that she was reported missing to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
Per kpel965.com, the crash occurred on the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge near the Whiskey Bay exit, a remote stretch of elevated highway that cuts through the swamps between Baton Rouge and Lafayette. The outlet also reported that a family member said Munn-Holliday's last known cellphone ping placed her at a gas station in Lafayette.
Two Agencies, One Missing Woman
Troopers learned on Oct. 1 that Munn-Holliday had also been reported missing to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, the same wafb.com report states. Harris County remains the lead investigative agency for the missing-person investigation, while Louisiana State Police says it has been in contact with Harris County investigators and will continue to coordinate with and assist that agency as needed. The station's report notes that both the crash investigation and the missing-person case remain active and ongoing.
By Tuesday, kpel965.com reported that Louisiana State Police said they were actively investigating Munn-Holliday's disappearance. According to the WBRZ report, family members have asked anyone with information to come forward to help bring their loved one home.
Volunteer Searchers Hit the Water
Louisiana's United Cajun Navy joined the search Tuesday, deploying boats to help look for Munn-Holliday, according to 973thedawg.com. The volunteer group's involvement adds manpower to a search that has already stretched across two states and multiple law enforcement agencies.
Munn-Holliday is described as 5-foot-6 and about 120 pounds, and she was possibly wearing a heart necklace when she disappeared, per the same wafb.com account. According to the Black and Missing Foundation, as cited in the KPRC Click2Houston report, she was last seen wearing a purple one-piece bodysuit jumper with a blue jean jacket. Investigators say they are using all available investigative resources and techniques to try to find her.
Anyone with information about Munn-Holliday's whereabouts is asked to call the Harris County Sheriff's Office at (713) 221-6000.
