King's Fork High School in Suffolk was placed on hold Monday morning after a threat was called into the school, sending police and fire crews to the campus for a sweep of the building. The call came in shortly after 10:50 a.m., and school officials asked parents and guardians to stay away from campus while emergency personnel responded.
According to WTKR, Suffolk police and local law-enforcement partners were conducting a thorough sweep of both the interior and exterior of the campus following the call. No injuries had been reported in connection with the incident, and authorities had not released additional details about the nature of the threat as of Monday. A separate report from WAVY.com said Suffolk Fire & Rescue units were also on scene and that police were investigating a threat to the school building, with the hold status going into effect around 11 a.m. according to a Suffolk Public Schools spokesperson.
Conflicting Accounts of How the Threat Was Made
Reports on the threat's origin differ. WTKR described it as a call placed directly into the school, while a separate account from WAVY characterized it as a social media threat and said the student believed responsible was not on campus after the threatening message was received. Hoodline could not independently confirm which version is accurate, and the exact wording or credibility of the threat has not been made public.
School officials asked parents and guardians to refrain from coming to the school to pick up students while emergency personnel responded, per the seed report. WAVY said it had reached out to the Suffolk Police Department for additional details.
A Familiar Pattern at King's Fork and Beyond
Monday's incident is not the first time King's Fork has been placed under scrutiny over a threat. In April 2023, two bomb threats at the school were both determined to be hoaxes, according to the Suffolk News-Herald, with a second threat that year prompting another evacuation and building sweep before the school received an all-clear at 11:14 a.m. No injuries were reported in those incidents either. Back in 2019, the same outlet reported that police and school officials said alleged threat-related comments by a student never amounted to a credible threat to the school or its occupants.

A report from wydaily.com said several York County schools received identical robocall voicemail messages reporting a bomb threat, prompting deputies to conduct precautionary sweeps at all 19 schools without finding evidence of an actual threat — allowing those schools to continue normal operations while an increased law-enforcement presence remained on campuses as a precaution.
