The planned work at Klein Collins High School combines changes to campus access with upgrades to student performance spaces. The $29 million project at 20811 Ella Blvd. is expected to begin in spring 2027 and finish by September 2028, with a redesigned traffic pattern and an auditorium renovation among its components.

Klein ISD confirmed the project plans by email on Oct. 22, Community Impact reported. The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation listed a project filing on Oct. 9; the listing is a record of the filing, not a confirmation of a construction start date. The $29 million project is funded through the district’s bond program, according to Community Impact.

A district spokesperson said the bond-funded work at Klein Collins is intended to address student safety and security, facility needs and learning environments, according to the outlet’s report.

Redesigning the Flow Around Ella Boulevard

The traffic changes are intended to make arrival and dismissal safer and more orderly around Ella Boulevard. Plans call for a designated student drop-off and pick-up lane and a revised pattern for vehicles entering and leaving campus. The work also includes repaving campus driveways.

A New Look for the Auditorium

The auditorium work will modernize a facility used for instruction, performances and fine arts programs, with the goal of bringing it in line with other Klein ISD high schools. A November 2025 Community Impact report said the plans include a black box theater, fly loft and new flooring.

Klein ISD trustees approved the auditorium remodel and traffic-safety project on Nov. 10, 2025, according to that report. The project also includes renovations to the school’s Nutrition and Food Services area.

How the Bond Dollars Break Down

The Klein Collins work is part of Klein ISD’s May 2022 bond program. Community Impact’s 2023 coverage reported that voters approved two propositions totaling $895.3 million: Proposition A allocated $843.84 million for districtwide safety, security, growth, capacity, modernization and facility upgrades, while Proposition B set aside $51.5 million for classroom technology. More recent coverage has rounded the bond figure to $900 million.

The district said in April 2023 that inflation had increased projected costs for each bond project by roughly 30% compared with its original May 2022 estimates. At the time, officials said all bond projects remained on track for completion by the 2027-28 school year; Klein Collins is now expected to finish in September 2028.

What the bond figures mean

Klein ISD’s 2025-2026 adopted budget lists $895.35 million as the amount authorized in May 2022, rather than the rounded $900 million figure used in some coverage. The district says voter-authorized bonds are sold in increments as projects need funding, so the authorization is not the same as money already spent, according to the 2025-2026 adopted budget and the district’s Bond Information website. A separate Klein ISD example involved an elementary school rather than a high school: Community Impact reported trustees approved Pogue Construction’s selection for Epps Island Elementary School’s $19 million renovation on Nov. 10, 2025. That project includes broader campus modernization, including parking lots and roadways, and was scheduled for June-August 2026, according to Community Impact.
