Knoxville is getting one more warm, mostly sunny day Friday before a sharp fall cooldown settles in for the weekend. Temperatures will climb from the upper 60s early to near 82 degrees, but the summerlike stretch will end with rain chances and gusty winds.

Showers Arrive As Winds Shift

Showers are possible Friday afternoon, with northwestern flow behind the front and gusts up to 30 mph possible Friday afternoon and evening. Most of the afternoon should stay dry, but outdoor plans could run into a passing shower late in the day.

Showers remain possible Friday evening before midnight as skies turn mostly cloudy and temperatures fall to around 49 degrees. The National Weather Service in Morristown says the front could produce stronger gusts at times, though no watches, warnings or advisories are posted for the Knoxville area.

Saturday Brings The Big Temperature Drop

Saturday will be mostly sunny but much cooler, with a high near 59 degrees and north winds of 10 to 15 mph. Saturday night should be mostly clear with a low around 40, and frost is most likely in higher elevations and colder outlying spots across the region.

Sunshine Returns Next Week

Sunday rebounds to a sunny high near 65, followed by highs around 68 Monday and 72 Tuesday. Dry, sunny weather is expected to continue Wednesday and Thursday, when highs should reach the mid-70s.
