A Los Angeles furniture brand known for stain-resistant, reconfigurable modular sofas is set to open its first Maryland showroom next Friday, October 23, at 830 Aliceanna Street in Baltimore's Harbor East. The roughly 1,028-square-foot space will operate primarily by appointment, though walk-ins are welcome, giving local shoppers a hands-on look at a sofa line the company has spent years refining.
The showroom's arrival was confirmed in a release distributed via PR Newswire, which detailed how the brand is pushing its footprint into the Mid-Atlantic. Harbor East Management Group President Tim O'Donald has said the location marks 7th Avenue's first in Maryland, placing it alongside other national retailers that chose the district for their state debuts, including Alo Yoga, Patagonia, Chanel Beauty and Saatva, according to Baltimore Fishbowl.
7th Avenue founder and CEO Billy Shaw framed the move around the region's housing variety, saying Baltimore and its surrounding area feature diverse living styles, from historic rowhomes to suburban estates. Co-founder and COO Josh Stinson added that the Harbor East showroom brings the company's experiential showroom model to Baltimore, giving local shoppers a hands-on way to try the sofas before buying. The brand is pitching itself to buyers across Fell's Point, Canton, Federal Hill, Mount Vernon, Roland Park and Towson, all areas expected to draw from the Aliceanna Street corridor's foot traffic.
A Fast-Growing Brand Bets on Brick and Mortar
7th Avenue launched in 2022 with a single flagship product it called the world's greatest modular sofa, the result of ten months of design and prototyping by Shaw, a former CEO of mobile internet company Pundit, and Stinson, who previously worked in fashion production at Marc Jacobs and Prada, per Forbes. Forbes has positioned the brand as a lower-priced, direct-to-consumer alternative to luxury modular designs like Restoration Hardware's Cloud Sofa and West Elm's Harmony Modular Sofa, noting that modular sectionals have become a dominant trend in residential interior design.
The Baltimore location is the latest stop in an aggressive national rollout. Ahead of the Harbor East opening, 7th Avenue added showrooms in Huntington Station, New York; Walnut Creek, California; Tysons, Virginia; Legacy West in Plano, Texas; Winter Park, Florida; and Scottsdale, Arizona, an expansion that has included partnerships with major commercial property developers like Simon Property Group, according to LeadIQ. The company now operates 28 stores nationwide, per the PR Newswire release.
That growth tracks with the company's financials. By mid-2026, 7th Avenue generated an estimated $19.5 million in annual revenue with an 86-employee workforce, reflecting a 56% year-over-year increase in headcount, Growjo reports. The brand operates under the corporate entity Grafiti Home Inc., per the same account.
Hands-On Shopping for a High-Ticket Purchase
Inside the showroom, 7th Avenue plans to let customers customize sofas, sectionals, loveseats, armchairs and daybeds by depth, seat width and arm width, with staff offering design consultations on modular configurations and fabric options, according to the PR Newswire announcement. The furniture itself features memory-foam-blend cushions, adjustable back support, stain-resistant performance fabrics and fully removable, machine-washable covers. The release also cites data attributed to Provoke Insights indicating that 65% of consumers still prefer to buy sofas in a physical store, a pattern that helps explain why a digitally native brand keeps opening storefronts.
That in-person emphasis extends to delivery. Rather than relying on third-party shipping carriers, 7th Avenue uses an in-house delivery team operating dedicated brand vans that handle full assembly, fabric steaming, cushion adjustments and packaging removal, as reported by The Manila Times. Stinson has said keeping white-glove delivery in-house helps maintain quality control and the overall customer experience. Appointments at 7th Avenue showrooms, including the new Baltimore location, run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern.
Harbor East's Growing Pull for First-in-State Brands
Harbor East continues to draw national retailers. The Baltimore Business Journal reported 7th Avenue's lease in the district.
More arrivals are on the way nearby. A 10,000-square-foot stand-alone Barnes & Noble is slated to open at 801 Aliceanna Street in December, alongside experiential concepts such as Sandbox VR and Game Show Battle Room. The planned bookstore would add to the corridor's mix of retail and experiential concepts.
7th Avenue's Baltimore debut extends the brand's move from online sales into physical, experiential showrooms, where customers can try high-ticket furniture in person.
