A waterless indoor slide park is headed to La Vista, with owners calling it the first of its kind in Nebraska. Slick City Action Park will become the first business to open inside the Southport West development, located northwest of Westport Parkway and West Giles Road, with an early 2027 opening planned.

“We're going to be the first ones in that development,” said Dan Bryant, part of the ownership group behind the La Vista location, according to KMTV 3 News Now Omaha. Southport West itself will bring a mix of family entertainment and new housing to the area, including townhomes, duplexes, quadplexes and traditional apartments, according to La Vista Mayor Douglas Kindig, as reported by the station.

The park is planned for a 41,000-square-foot building near the same Westport Parkway and West Giles Road intersection, according to Omaha Exploration. Rather than water slides, the attraction will feature dry slides alongside an air court for basketball and dodgeball, a zip rail, laser tag, and a swing and trapeze setup, per the same outlet. Bryant previously owned the Sky Zone Trampoline Park in Fargo, Omaha Exploration reports.

A Different Kind of Slide

Bryant described the appeal in simple terms, saying the slides are different and fun and offer a way to expand family entertainment, per KMTV 3 News Now Omaha. Slick City itself markets the experience as delivering the exhilarating speed and sensation of a waterslide — without the water, according to the company's own About Us page.

The La Vista location also plans to set aside special dates and times for kids under seven, people who experience sensory sensitivity, and dedicated adult nights, Omaha Exploration notes. Mayor Kindig framed the addition as part of a broader strategy, saying entertainment is such a big part of people's lives and that the city has to provide amenities and choices that make people want to be here, according to the station's report. Kindig added that the development will draw people from La Vista, the surrounding region and out of state, per the same account.

How Slick City Has Grown Elsewhere

La Vista's version won't be the chain's first foray into the region. Slick City Fargo opened on Nov. 14, 2025, offering more than 30,000 square feet of sliding attractions alongside a sport court and a concessions stand, according to InForum. That location includes slides named “the big wave” and “the avalanche,” built on sliding technology designed by a former NASA engineer, InForum reported. Bryant told the outlet the concept is “like a water park, but you don't get wet,” and visitors there can book 90-minute or two-hour sessions.

The chain has been expanding rapidly since opening its first location in Denver in early 2022, according to Slick City's own account. The company says more than 100 locations are now signed, under construction or open nationwide. Industry outlet blooloop reports Slick City opened 25 locations in 2026 alone and has logged more than 6 million guest visits since launching, with plans to top 60 open locations by the end of this year and surpass 120 by the end of 2027.

Southport's Track Record in La Vista

Slick City's arrival builds on a development pattern the city says has already paid off. La Vista's Economic Development Program, approved by voters by a two-thirds majority in 2003, was first put to use in 2007 for a grant and construction loan tied to the Embassy Suites and La Vista Conference Center in Southport West, according to the City of La Vista. Since then, the city says its broader Southport investment has generated nearly $40 million in city revenue, representing a 425% return on its initial $7.6 million investment.

The city has not announced what the remaining Southport West land will ultimately be used for. For now, the slide park and the surrounding housing mix stand as the first concrete signs of what's coming to the site near Westport Parkway and West Giles Road.
